The Last Person, Torchwood fanfiction

I'm a Jack/Ianto fangirl at heart, right from the start, even before I started watching Torchwood. For some reason, my mind never stopped picking up bits of slash even if it might not have been implied. Although, this little scene seemed pretty implied to me.

The Last Person



Who was the last person you snogged?

"It was Lisa."

Wind. Awkward silence. Jack broke his own stare.

Lisa was the right and incorrect answer. Ianto was certain Jack had done something, when he was revived and lying in his captain's arms. What exactly, no one knew. Not even him. Lisa was all they knew.

When Jack stared at him again, it was Ianto who looked away.

That night, after escaping Death by Cannibalism with a plethora of bruises, cuts and frazzled nerves, Ianto pretended that forgiveness and comfort were all he wanted to feel when Jack held him close.

I edited that line countless times because it just plain refused to convey what I wanted it to. And I didn't want to upset the 100 words limit I set. It wasn't even my intended "last line" in the first place! But I grew to like this one better.

Well, even if it wasn't your intended last line, I'm glad that you ended up with this one, because I just love it!

Slew? It's slew? *grumbles* But I like the "ay" part! as in "oh, you slay me!" or something like that...

I'm kinda satisfied with this last line myself, because the first intended line would sound a little off with the feel that I wanted the fic to have.

Slew sounds weird, no? It's like, "you stew me!" huh-wha??
No wonder I've hardly heard of it. People must have been reluctant to use that word.

....OMG...what am I doing here (reading another TW fanfic)....All swift_tales fault !!!

This was a great little piece. Actually, I've only ever watched that one scene with Ianto and Jack that Swift_tales gave me (for her icon-making) and on youtube some of the Ianto/Jack vids (including the famous "kissing in the office scene" ;)

Anyway, am babbling here....I also happened to watch that particular scene you started your fic with. And I really, really like what you did with this :D (...and now back off to my own world of Eric/Ryan slash...am soooo NOT going to get into TW ....just can't do this.....hubby will divorce me....must stay sane.......*argggggggggggg...these two are hot though* :D)

Yes!!! Another TW fan! *does happy dance*

The scene I chose isn't as frequently written as the one swift_tale wrote on. And the ones with this scene mostly touched on the "last person IS JACK!!!" rather than the way they stared at each other while the team chattered on. I love the whole understatedness of that scene and that you can tell there's something there. Glad you like this fic!

You can't escape TW! I know because I tried and I didn't want to go plunging into another fandom back then. But I did, and I don't regret it. UK script/story writers are consistently better than US ones, so it's time well-invested =)
(Yes, they are hot! If I told you that there's a scene where there was top-nudeness and implied naked hide-n-seek, would that sway you to come join us on the dark side? *evil*)

I like the Brit's sense of humor very much and I agree with you, there are some excellent UK script/story writers. They are always much more daring in regard to where to take a story than the Americans.

There definitely IS chemistry between Ianto and Jack (from what I've seen so far.) It's just right now, I really, really can't afford another obsession (not even a minor one), as RL tends to be very, very busy this time of the year (workwise) :D

But it's gonna be hard. As I said...soooooooooooo easy to sway ;)

What I wouldn't give for THAT.

I like Brit humour too! And I totally agree that the writers are more daring with their material. I mean, they've written same-gender stuff when it was still a prohibited territory in US shows. And to think that US is regarded as the more "advanced" country.

You can always come join in the TW fandom after your busy work period! I jumped in during a break after I ended a part-time job and before I started Uni.

I know myself well enough to know that I'll probably have a sneak peek into TW now and then. It's really very tempting. I mean, two hot guys, and actually SHOWING the slash acted out on screen...a slash fan's dream... :D

As for Eric/Ryan "naked hide and seek" actually acted out on screen...(or even a simple kiss) I'd simply die.... from the excitment LOL ... :D

I'd suggest that you resist sneak peaks and watch the series in it's entirety when you're free to. Feels more like you're on a ride with the characters that way.

As for our new fantasy Eric/Ryan scene, I'd have it on loop and watch it so much it gets burned into my mind and I'd even see it in my dreams.
Just thinking about it makes me go into squee-spasms XD
